How We Choose Products
Our curation process, from first look to featured favorite.
Our curation philosophy
JustFavs exists to cut through the noise. We don't try to catalog every product on the internet, we curate a short, focused list of favorites that are genuinely worth your attention. Every item that makes it onto the site has earned its spot through a deliberate, hands-on selection process.
We believe great product recommendations come from genuine curiosity, not from chasing commissions or stuffing pages with hundreds of affiliate links. Quality over quantity, always.
What we look for
When evaluating a product, we weigh four core criteria:
- Design and craft. Does it solve a real problem in a thoughtful, well-made way? We favor products that are built to last over disposable trends.
- Value. Is it priced fairly for what you get? We look for products that deliver genuine bang for your buck, not just the cheapest option.
- Uniqueness. Is it interesting? Does it stand out from the sea of sameness? We love products with a point of view, clever, weird, or quietly brilliant.
- Everyday usefulness. Will it actually make life a little better, easier, or more enjoyable? If we wouldn't use it ourselves, it doesn't make the cut.
How we research
We scout products from a wide range of sources, retailer catalogs, independent makers, reader suggestions, and our own everyday discoveries. Before a product is featured, we dig into the details: specs, materials, reviews from real buyers, and how it compares to alternatives in its category.
We pay attention to what actual owners say, not just marketing copy. Patterns matter, if a product consistently earns praise for the same reasons (or draws the same complaints), that tells us something real.
No paid placements
We do not accept payment to feature products. Brands cannot pay to be included in a collection or to move up in our rankings. Our selections are editorial decisions, full stop. If a brand sends us a free sample, we'll say so, but it never guarantees coverage, and it never buys a positive write-up.
Collections, not catalogs
We organize products into rotating collections, small, themed batches that keep things fresh. When a collection wraps up, it moves to the archive and a new one takes its place. This keeps our recommendations focused and prevents the endless-scroll fatigue that comes with giant product databases.
Prices and availability
Prices and availability change constantly. We do our best to keep pricing accurate at the time of publication, but we can't guarantee it. Always verify the current price on the retailer's site before purchasing. If you spot an error, please reach out and we'll correct it.
Always improving
Our process isn't set in stone. We listen to reader feedback, track which products stand the test of time, and refine our criteria as we learn. If you have a product you think we should feature, or one you think we got wrong, we'd genuinely love to hear from you.
