I recently bought a mechanical keyboard from Amazon for thirty-six dollars and ninety-nine cents and I think I might be in love. It is a retro-inspired beast with blue switches that sound like a hailstorm on a tin roof.
Most modern keyboards are far too muffled, but this one provides the sharp, high-frequency snap I need to keep my brain from drifting into the void. The round, electroplated keycaps feel like tiny percussion instruments under my fingertips.
There is a peculiar, persistent low-frequency hum when I engage the RGB backlighting. It makes me nervous, like the board is vibrating with a secret frequency, but the tactile feedback is so satisfying that I am willing to risk a little static-induced haunting.
It feels like typing on a haunted typewriter that decided to join a rave. My current favorite lighting mode is the one that pulses softly, though I try not to stare at it for too long.
It features: 104 clicky blue keys, aluminum alloy casing, 9 RGB modes. If you want your workspace to sound like an old-fashioned telegraph office that got lost in the year 2099, this is the one for you.
Just watch out for that hum.
